Staging
taging is the art of preparing homes
for sale so that their best features are showcased and any problems
are minimized. Most buyers are visual and have difficulty
envisioning how a home could look with their furnishings,
which makes it critical to “set the stage” or “paint a picture” for
them.
Just
as stagehands set the stage for a production, the same is done for a
home. It is made to look cozy and inviting so that it stands out from
the rest of the homes on the market. Real estate staging is not
just about decorating—in most cases it is about un-decorating and
is accomplished through a
combination of home editing, organizing and the rearrangement of
furnishings, artwork and accessories. Staging a vacant home
consists of placing items into the home, renting furniture
if necessary, and creating a warm and inviting space. A staged home
will always be more appealing than a vacant home!
Fact
to consider: “According to the National Association of Realtors, for
every dollar sellers put into staging, the sellers get $4.00 back.”-Article
by Teri Clarke, in Homeowner’s Choice Magazine, February 2006
Remember—you
are never given a second chance to make a first impression!
